The challenges of recording at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy

Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA)

Recording in Weymouth at the National Sailing Academy was a great experience. To be able to capture Cameron in this setting was key to my documentary, as this is where he trains regularly, and it is the home of GB sailing.  I faced difficulties with timings and set up, as Cameron was in and out of important meetings during the day I was there!

Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, Cameron could not sail on the days we had scheduled. However, I managed to negate the weather when it came to using the drone for some great scenic shots of the academy. This also came with its challenges, as there is a live helipad within the vicinity of the area. This meant we needed to contact the necessary people to avoid the newly integrated Flight Restriction Zone, which we achieved.

Overall, this first day of filming provided me with the perfect platform to push onwards with the documentary.
